CAE Assessment


Staying competitive in today’s market requires constant innovations of company systems and processes. These goal can be achieved by merging smart insights with the application of robust methodologies and procedures. CAE technologies play a fundamental role in this context, as they support the development of products and processes from concept design to industrialization.
Our CAE assessment includes, first of all, a comprehensive characterization of the client (interviews, surveys, workshops, and testing) to evaluate the CAE implementation within the enterprise. The service is specifically designed to improve efficiency and effectiveness of Computer Aided Engineering tools, balancing business and technical requirements.

The analysis is carried out based on the four main perspectives of:
  • Return on CAE investments
  • Quality of CAE procedures
  • Integration of CAE tools with other CAE tools, CAD tools, and testing

Structural Analysis for Civil Applications

Enginsoft offers comprehensive structural analyses of buildings and civil structures in general. When necessary, structural analyses may be coupled with other analyses (i.e. acoustic, environmental, and further. Applications in this field include:

  • models to evaluate external actions on buildings (including effects of wind and water in static and dynamic conditions, effects of fire, effects of explosions, effects of earthquakes)
  • models to evaluate overall building response under static and dynamic actions (including earthquake response in time and frequency domains)
  • fatigue life predictions
  • buckling analysis, both linear and non-linear, including erection sequences

Structural Analysis for Mechanical Applications

Despite the fact that FEA techniques have the largest diffusion in this field, Enginsoft offers above-average competences and expertise. We design Finite Element models that meet the goals they are conceived for. In this way, optimized and application-oriented models are delivered.
The added value of EnginSoft is the transfer of our experiences to the models from the start of the modeling process which  offers improvements in time savings and quality results.

At Enginsoft, structural problems are managed in accordance with one of the following approaches:

  • standard analysis using commercial general purpose software. We have different FEA codes to cover more than 90% of the industrial applications and superior experience for fixing CAD-FEA import issues.
  • integrated analysis where inputs/results of FE codes are coupled with inputs/results of other software. Possible integrations are between multi-body and FEA (for dynamic load evaluation of complex systems), FEA and durability (fatigue life), process simulation and FEA (taking into account variations in material properties, residual stresses), FEA and CFD, and more.
  • customized analysis. EnginSoft develops customized pre and post-processors to create the models and to interpret results as required by specific standards. We also build templates for recursive calculations, and, within the limit, set-up turn-key solutions.

Structural Analysis for Naval & Offshore Applications

Our competences and know-how in designing off-shore structures are based on 20 years of collaborations with international customers and partners working in the field.  This sector requires a deep knowledge of a variety of national and internatonal standars for design, construction, inspection and maintenance of structures, as well as for the definition of the actions governing all works to be carried out.

EnginSoft’s competences and offer include:

  • overall analysis (global performances) of off-shore platforms (earthquake response, fatigue/durability responses both for stochastic and deterministic approaches) off-loading, substructures and components design (emergency release systems, riser connectors, tanks, casings, conductors).
  • mechanical-structural analysis/design of submarine vehicles and structures operating underwater.

Computer Fluid Dynamics Simulation (CFD)

EnginSoft competences and offering include:

  • Rotating turbo-machines, such as centrifugal pumps, gas turbines, blowers, axial and centrifugal compressors, propellers and ventilators. For each machine we can calculate efficiency and performances both in standard and critical working conditions. CFD analysis may be coupled with structural analysis for taking into account deformation influences. Geometries can be optimized using parametrical models.
  • Valves, including calculation of head loss, cavitation, actuator power, flow perturbation.
  • Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning HVAC for automotive and civil applications
  • Combustion and Heat transmissions including combustion analysis of liquid and gas fuels, prediction of final emissions, heat transmission through walls and surfaces, simulation of industrial kilns, calculation of enthalpy balance, and heat exchangers.
  • Aerodynamics including calculation of aerodynamic coefficients, turbulence analysis, and flow analysis for both automotive and aeronautic applications. Our software implements state-of-art formulation to predict real-life behavior with the highest accuracy.
  • Physical and Chemical process simulation of electrostatic filters, centrifugal separators, mixer and chemical reactors (including reactions in dispersions).
  • Safety-related issues such as analysis of fires and smoke diffusion, optimization of the automatic extinguisher position and smoke extractors, simulation of explosion with correlated effects (pressure wave)
  • Household electric appliances including fridges, freezers, vacuum cleaners, ovens. EnginSoft provides calculations of efficiency and investigates anomalous operation.

Acoustic Analysis

EnginSoft competences and offering includes:

CAD-CAE Integration

One of the main issues when working with different CAE tools, is to transfer models and physical entities/data from one environment to another. A further, even more complex issue, is the import of models from CAD and the turning of the same into coherent/usable CAE models.
EnginSoft has a long experience in modelling these types of transfer/manipulations, and offers a variety of services covering:
  • CAD-CAD conversion issues
  • CAD-CAE importing issues
  • CAD model repairing/fixing
  • automatic mesh generation starting from CAD models

Multi-Body Systems (MBS)

The simulation of multi-body systems is largerly dependent on functionalities of commercial computer codes. EnginSoft’s offering covers a variety of applications, and moreover, the development and implementation of customized modules/functions to extend the capabilities of commercial software. modeFRONTIER is a product developed by Esteco srl, a daughter company of EnginSoft.

modeFRONTIER provides a platform for process integration and multi-objective and multi-disciplinary design optimization.

In addition to the software, EnginSoft’s offering includes:

Simulation of casting processes

EnginSoft’s competences and offer in this field, divided into different application categories, include:

Cast Iron

  • thermo fluid dynamic analysis for casting of gray cast iron radiators
  • mold filling and solidification analysis for casting of spheroidal cast iron components
  • solidification and cooling analysis to evaluate residual stresses and strains of gray cast iron boilers

Distance ENGIneering (DENGI)

This service consists of a multi-disciplinary web site where single purpose engineering applications are offered to clients worldwide. These turn-key applications, with high technology content, are user-oriented and specifically designed to overcome typical engineering issues. DENGI allows clients to cancel the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) as expensive software and powerful hardware are not required. Moreover, having the applications ready-to-use, even costs for training and time can be saved. DENGI brings effective solutions for various engineering problems to your company - at extremely competitive costs.

Access to DENGI services is possible through safe authentication; this assures that others cannot copy your data and cannot see your results. Then, the user only has to provide the necessary inputs and launch the simulation, which is performed on our servers. Once the calculation is completed, the user is advised through an E-mail. Results can be examined from the internet browser without special plug-ins.
EnginSoft also offers, to companies with particular competences, the opportunity of inserting their applications into the DENGI web site. Our IT staff can develop necessary interfaces from and to your CAE software and assists you during the implementation process. Once the application becomes available, the company can take remarkable advantages, as :
  • it can be used from any site worldwide
  • it can be opened to third parties whenever necessary
  • it is safely stored
  • it can be sold to new users, becoming a profit source
