FSI analysis and concentrated parameter approach for fuel injector

Gravina Antonio - FPT Powertrain Research & Technologies

Abstract

To investigate the behaviour of a fuel injector in transient conditions, a concentrated parameter model has been created. This kind of models requires a tuning step were the coefficient values are chosen between an allowable range to fit experimental data. In this case high values of friction forces between valve body and the push rod has been used for model's tuning. FSI analysis, a suitable tool for this investigation, has been used to understand the physical behaviour of the sealing surfaces and the obtained results show good accordance with the assumptions.
