Abstract

The proposed paper deals with optimization of highly loaded 2-stage turbocharged SI large-bore engine under steady state operation. However, the engine performance is verified under simple transient tests (constant engine speed, fast changes of engine load). All results are obtained by means of simulation using calibrated engine model in GT-Power while optimization tasks are performed by means of genetic algorithm (modeFRONTIER). Main focus is put on full optimization of engine valve train and compression ratio to obtain best possible BSFC under steady state. The influence of valve size is performed as well.
