Abstract

Because ecodesign is a growing issue in plastics industry, design optimization is a tool of great interest for developers. This paper describes a procedure for a multi objective shape optimization of an injected plastic part with an aim of mass reduction. That part, an injected cream pot, has been modeled in a FE structural mesh (ANSYS) reproducing the pressure due to the collage of the cover. The geometry has been parameterized in the CAD software Solidworks. The two objectives are the minimization of the injected volume and the minimization of the deformation of the part. A constraint is added in order to restrict internal stress of the part. Results are very encouraging and the procedure can be applied to more complex problems including rheological considerations.
