New trends in CFD solution time with high density, new generation CPU's

Abstract

The latest AMD and Intel multi-core platforms allow users to perform a high number of parallelisms with a reduced quantity of nodes. Expectations about computation times strictly depend on software design and on the right hardware choices for the software to use. The results of comparative analyses of the new platforms according to computing power, the degrees of freedom of simulation models and the relative management costs are presented in this study.
