Flowmaster
System simulation software
- The Flowmaster networks are build on the basis of predefined objects: materials, components and performance data. These objects are collected into catalogues. The organization of catalogues is customizable according to the company needs.
- The database for materials includes several fluids and solids commonly used in the industry: refrigerants, hydrocarbons, lubricants, humid air, steam and solids. The catalogue of refrigerants is based on the NIST Refprop 8.0 Flowmaster catalogue. Moreover, Flowmaster allows to create new solid, liquid and gas materials through predefined templates. The physical properties of materials (density, viscosity, specific heat capacity, etc.) can be defined as constant values or as functions of pressure and temperature.
- The component library is very comprehensive. Among the different components we mention:
- piping inclusive of bends, junctions and transitions, rigid and elastic pipes;
- valves (directional, control, safety);
- orifices and discrete losses;
- pumps (radial, mixed, axial, volumetric, gear);
- engines;
- tanks, sources and sinks;
- accumulators;
- controllers;
- heat exchanger (radiators, evaporators, condensers).
- The components are characterized by performance data, which describe their behaviour. Some examples are the pressure/flow curves for bends and valves or the performance curves of active components, such as pumps, fans, blower and engines. Flowmaster supplies a huge library of performance curves based on DSMiller's experimental data; nevertheless, it is possible to easily add performance curves based on company data, which describe in detail the behaviour of the used components.
