Flowmaster V7 Automotive allows to study and model in an effective way the engine cooling system, the air conditioning system, the thermal conditions of the cabin together with the passenger comfort, heat exchangers and the cooling pack, the lubrication circuit, the fuel injection system and the exhaust system. For each application it is possible to carry out design studies to reach the optimal solutions, to study the design modifications and to follow the system lifecycle inside the cars. The Automotive enterprise solution provides a large set of specific components for the different applications. For the simulation of the conditioning system, there are specific components capable to model the phase change of the refrigerant. Furthermore, for these simulations it is possible to use the NIST Refprop 8.0 Database for refrigerants. For the simulation of engine cooling systems there are components that model the engine thermal behaviour taking into account its mass, its heat flow due to combustion and the equivalent area of the cavities; moreover, there are specific components such as thermostats, heat exchangers and water pumps. For the simulation of exhaust systems there are components that model catalysers in details accounting for pressure drop as a function of the material, temperature rise due to chemical reactions, heat transfer to the external environment and insulating layers. There are also turbines, compressors, and specific components simulating interactions between turbine and compressor, Waste Gate valves, bends and elbows in the discharge system capable to completely model the heat transfer accounting for irregular geometries, electro-mechanical components and compressible cylinders. For the lubrication systems there are specific components modelling different types of bearings, rotating passages, pressure regulator valves, oil pumps, filters and sump, lube injectors accounting for nozzle area and pressure loss as a function of flow rate. Moreover, it is possible to model the fluid mixing and to compute the mixture properties.
